Your Outfitter

In 1984 Master Guide Phillip Wilson started his first Outfitting guiding business called Kiwi Hunting Safaris and at the time there was only 10 outfitters guiding in New Zealand, whereas today there is over a 1000. Over the years the business names and partners may have changed but the Wilson family has remained dedicated to providing you the North American hunter a true and genuine New Zealand hunting experience. In order to achieve this we only host 2 to 3 couples at any one time or just one family group, where Phillip guides and/or hosts all hunters. Although most of our hunt trips start with a set package and price from the airport every package one way or another is customised to maximise your hunt experience and success. 

As an avid bow hunter Phillip has hunted throughout North and South America so with this in mind for the past 20 years we have designated March as our bow season, this gives all our bow hunters the first hunts of the season for red stag, just as they come into the roar (rut). Because these hunts are on a 2x1 basis we can host up to 6 single hunters at a time. 

For most New Zealand is a once and a lifetime trip for that reason using our knowledge and 40 years of experience we design you a customised 8 day self-drive tour of our beautiful South Island during your stay with us to experience after your hunt.

Your Guides

Your Guides are all New Zealanders (Kiwi’s) with many years of experience and who may also be the land owner where you are hunting. All guides have completed NZHUNT professional hunting guides school and have qualified with a grade 7 or higher.

Your Hosts

Your hosts although Phillip is your main host during your trip when you stay at 1 or 2 of our diferent accommodations, here the owners will host you as well and again they are all Kiwi’s that provide you that genuine Kiwi experience from entertaining story’s to home-style meals.

Your Booking Agent all hunt packages are booked and contracted through NZHUNTUSA Inc based out of San Antonio TX this makes communication and all transactions very easy. For our past hunters you may recall us being based in Dallas for some 10 years, then before that Sacramento CA for nearly 20 years and hence the 916 813 3006 contact phone number.
